Alexander Goldenberg

Alex Goldenberg is an accomplished litigator with a diverse practice, spanning a range of civil rights, commercial, and criminal matters. He has successfully represented individuals who suffered employment and housing discrimination, wage and hour violations, police misconduct and prisoner abuse, and sexual assault. His commercial practice includes contract disputes, partnership dissolutions, and allegations of breach of fiduciary duty. Alex also represents clients in criminal matters ranging from complex white collar investigations to charges of murder and other violent felonies. Prior to joining Cuti Hecker Wang LLP in 2011, Alex Goldenberg worked at the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, as a law clerk for two federal judges, and as a law intern for the Federal Defenders of New York and the Bronx Defenders. Before law school, Alex spent four years as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill, where he focused on appropriations, transportation planning, and foreign policy.

Successfully represented estate and family of 23-year old man who was fatally shot in the back of the head by a Nassau County police officer in a federal civil rights and wrongful death suit.

Cui v. Yes Car Service, Inc.
Represents nine former drivers of livery car service in action seeking compensation for unpaid overtime and minimum wages and for other violations of the New York Labor Law.

Gedna v. Millennium Realty NYC
Obtained settlement for prospective tenant unlawfully denied the opportunity to view an apartment because she received federal housing assistance.

K.D. v. BGC Financial, L.P.
Secured $500,000 judgment for client in sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against financial services company.

Successfully represented numerous victims of sexual assault or sexual abuse at universities and other educational institutions in Title IX proceedings, litigation, and mediation.

Obtained reversal of murder conviction in the Appellate Division, Fourth Department; currently representing defendant in retrial.

Billups v. State of Alabama
Obtained reversal of conviction for capital murder at the Alabama Supreme Court based on challenge to the trial court's flawed jury instructions.

Tillman v. State of Alabama
Obtained reversal of convictions for intentional murder and possession of a forged instrument at the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals on the ground that the trial court improperly consolidated separate indictments for trial.
